AAC Winter Break Camps

AAC is excited to offer Winter Break Camps.

We will tailor the chess camp to the student's skill levels and will break up the camp between lessons and activity. and a tournament round with analysys. In the camps, the more advanced groups will explore some of the deeper ideas and lessons that are a little harder to do in a group class including going into more depth on openings and end games. Newer students will look at the basics of the opening and endgame as well as learning tactics and other chess strategies.

After lunch students will do a variant camp. One week will be Board Games and the other Coding.

In the Board Game camp we will do a number of critical thinking board games including for more advanced students a Magic the Gathering Draft. All participants will get to take home their Magic deck at the end of the week.

In the Coding camp, students will get introduced to coding through BitzBox where they will get an account and work through coding activities throughout the week. This is for returning coders and students new to coding so no experience is necessary. The curriculum is designed for kids and teaches them step by step as they learn to code throughout the week.
