All About Chess is excited to be hosting a chess class on Wednesdays at Briarwood Elementary.
We will meet before school from 8:05-9:05am in Activity Area 140.
Chess class is a place for students to practice problem solving, critical thinking, and sportsmanship while having fun learning and playing a timeless game. Kids start the class with casual chess games, then progress to a lesson tailored to the class’ collective skill level. Next, they play a formal (unrated) 'tournament game’ that allows them to practice skills under the same rules and expectations as a real tournament. Our overall goal is to help kids think through decisions logically, learn from their mistakes, and of course, have fun doing it! All experience levels are welcome.
