Description

AAC is excited to offer Half Day Lego Robotics Half Day Chess or Coding Camp/Board Games. We will start the day with a half day Lego robotics and after lunch will do half day chess or other specialty camp.

In the morning 9am-12pm, we will learn to build and program robotics using Lego kits. We will have a different curriculum based on the skill level of the student.  Students will work on different projects throughout the week.

Lunch is from 12pm-1pm. Students should bring their own lunch.

In the afternoon session, 1pm-4pm, students can do chess or other specialty camp. One week will be Coding one week will be Board Games.

For coding, students will get introduced to coding through BitzBox where they will get an account and work through coding activities throughout the week. This is for students new to coding so no experience is necessary but continues to progress in difficulty the more camps you do. The curriculum is designed for kids and teaches them step by step as they learn to code throughout the week.

For Board Games, we will do a number of critical thinking board games. For more experienced students we will do a Magic the Gathering Draft. All participants will get to take home their Magic deck at the end of the week.

For chess, we will tailor the chess camp to the student's skill levels and will break up the camp between lessons and activities. and a tournament round with analysys. In the camps, the more advanced groups will explore some of the deeper ideas and lessons that are a little harder to do in a group class including going into more depth on openings and end games. Newer students will look at the basics of the opening and endgame as well as learning tactics and other chess strategies. We will do trophies for the tournament on Fridays.
