All About Chess is excited to offer two in person classes on Wednesdays at Sunset Elementary. We will have the Upper and Lower Flex spaces after school and divide the class into two groups. One Intermediate-Advanced group and one Beginner group.
Chess class is a place for students to practice problem solving, critical thinking, and sportsmanship while having fun learning and playing a timeless game. Kids start the class with casual chess games, then progress to a lesson tailored to the class’ collective skill level. Next, they play a formal (unrated) 'tournament game’ that allows them to practice skills under the same rules and expectations as a real tournament. Our overall goal is to help kids think through decisions logically, learn from their mistakes, and of course, have fun doing it! All experience levels are welcome.
